Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an announcement on Friday, disclosing his commencement of a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he expressed his intention to address a summit consisting of esteemed Arab leaders.
Zelenskyy, via a tweet, elucidated that his primary objective revolves around augmenting bilateral relations while fortifying Ukraine’s ties with the Arab world.
During his stay, he is scheduled to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and participate in various other bilateral discussions of significance.
Among the multitude of topics he intends to broach, Zelenskyy explicitly mentioned the distressing issue of Russia’s annexation of Crimea, in addition to his pursuit of a comprehensive peace “formula” for the ongoing conflict that transpired subsequent to Moscow’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. Furthermore, energy cooperation will also occupy a pivotal position in the agenda.
Zelenskyy asserted his intention to present a comprehensive 10-point peace formula, striving to engage as many countries as possible in the pursuit of a resolution.
Additionally, he underscored the importance of safeguarding the Muslim community residing in Ukraine, drawing attention to the plight endured by Crimea, which suffered the brunt of Russian occupation. Zelenskyy stressed that a significant proportion of those who face repression under the occupation in Crimea happen to be Muslims.
Accompanying Zelenskyy on this crucial visit is Mustafa Dzhemilev, the esteemed leader of the Crimean Tatar community.
Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, Zelenskyy is scheduled to embark on a journey to attend the Group of Seven summit in Japan. Leaders representing the world’s most influential democracies intend to collectively intensify punitive measures imposed on Russia in response to its audacious full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as revealed by Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
Only recently, Zelenskyy returned from a comprehensive three-day sojourn encompassing Italy, the Vatican, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, where he embarked on a diplomatic endeavor to secure increased supplies of weaponry.
Moreover, Zelenskyy has already visited Washington since the commencement of the war, but he has yet to venture further eastward to continue his diplomatic engagements.
